case study hero design

Case study

This case study documents the design and development of the landing page for Wambos’ Beauty Spot, a digital space created to celebrate Afrocentric beauty and self expression. The project was guided by a central question: how can design evoke the feeling of a sanctuary while remaining functional and conversion driven? The solution involved a careful balance of editorial tone, visual identity, and interaction pacing. The design approach prioritized emotional resonance, using a muted olive and beige palette to convey warmth and grounded elegance. Hero imagery was selected to reflect bold femininity and cultural pride, while typography choices reinforced the brand’s expressive tone. Scroll triggered interactions were choreographed to guide users through a paced narrative, allowing each section to unfold with intention. Every design decision, from layout logic to microcopy was made to support the user’s emotional journey. The final product is a landing page that not only showcases services but also honors the quiet power of beauty. It stands as a strategic example of how UX, brand storytelling, and cultural identity can converge to create a meaningful digital experience.

Project brief

Visual Identity

The visual identity for Wambos’ Beauty Spot was developed to reflect Afrocentric elegance, emotional warmth, and editorial clarity. A muted olive and beige palette was selected to evoke grounded sophistication, while bold imagery and serif typography reinforced the brand’s confident and expressive tone. The design intentionally avoids visual clutter, allowing each element to breathe and resonate. This approach ensures that the brand feels both welcoming and elevated, aligning with the emotional expectations of beauty-conscious users.

Layout & Interaction

The layout was constructed using a modular grid system optimized for mobile-first responsiveness. Scroll-triggered interactions were implemented to guide users through a paced narrative, beginning with brand introduction and leading toward service engagement. Each section was designed to maintain rhythm, clarity, and intuitive flow, with interactive touchpoints that respond to user behavior. This strategy supports a multisensory experience, allowing users to engage with the content in a way that feels personal and emotionally paced.

Content Architecture

Content was organized to reflect user priorities and behavioral flow. The hierarchy begins with a visually anchored hero section, followed by service highlights, testimonials, and a call-to-action. Microcopy was crafted to reinforce brand tone while maintaining clarity and accessibility. Menu logic was designed to reduce cognitive load, and hidden highlights were strategically placed to reward exploration. This structure supports anti-fatigue editorial flow, ensuring that users remain engaged across devices without feeling overwhelmed.

Licensing & Asset Strategy

All visual assets used in the design were curated with licensing clarity and usage rights in mind. This included sourcing royalty-free imagery, verifying commercial licenses, and ensuring that all graphics could be safely deployed across digital platforms. The strategy prioritized long-term scalability and brand integrity, allowing the design to evolve into motion graphics, templates, or future campaigns without legal risk. By embedding licensing into the design workflow, the project maintains both creative freedom and operational safety.
